Zipaquirá, the city of Salt, is located to the north of the Bogotá Savannah and is 48 km away from the capital by railway and 49 km by car. It can also be accessed by the roads that communicate with the savannah of Ubaté and Rionegro.

It is located at 2,652 meters above sea level, with a cold climate of 14°C and an area of 194 square kilometers.
