And it all started like this...

The Steak House Chez Ernest is one of the oldest restaurants in the city of Barranquilla. Located in the exclusive Prado sector. With a gastronomic tradition that began in the 1930s when its founder, Ernest Reiss Van Leuven, founded his career in the famous schools of Lyon (France).

From there, he began his career as a Chef de Cuisine, providing his services in prestigious hotel chains and in renowned International Label restaurants.

In 1954 he married Liliane Madelaine Poirel, born in Jarville - La - Malgrange (Meurthe-et-Moselle) France, who in her youth participated in the Veuve Clicquot vintages in Villers Marmery.

Some time later, while in Calcutta (India), serving at the Oberoi Grand Hotel, Mr. Ernest Reiss decides, along with his wife, to move to Colombia, where he was hired as chef de cuisine at the Bogotá Country Club.

Later, he receives an offer from the Intercontinental chain, thus accepting a proposal from the Hotel El Prado in this cozy city of Barranquilla, where, finally, on October 10, 1960, Chef Ernest Reiss opens the doors of the Steak House Restaurant - Chez Ernest , with a very particular philosophy, as the French would say: A restaurant with a "Savoir Faire".
