The first tourist destination on the Caribbean Coast, with the figure of a ´vueltiao´ hat and equipped with a park, restaurant and internet, will be built by the Government of Atlántico at a cost of 488 million pesos, at the intersection of the road that leads to Juan de Acosta with the Autopista al Mar.
The construction of the parador, whose lot has 2,240 meters, was awarded to Luis Carlos Peña Buendía through direct contracting SDE 003-2006.
"With this whereabouts, which will be a typically regional work, we want to give an important boost to our tourism sector, which we have already served with the paving and signage of the roads that lead to resorts such as Santa Verónica and Puerto Velero, and soon Caño Dulce ", Governor Carlos Rodado said when highlighting the importance of the work.
Accompanied at a press conference by the Secretary of Development, Rodolfo Acuña, and the Undersecretary of Tourism, Afif Simán, the president stated that this is the first of several tourist hostels that the Departmental Administration plans on other roads such as Oriental and La Cordialidad.
Rodado explained that the Autopista al Mar with the entrance to Santa Verónica was chosen as the ideal point for construction through a study that highlighted different variables: availability of water service, a high rate of vehicular traffic (3,120 cars per day) , places of interest, cultural, religious and economic events, tourist vocation of the sector and excellent condition of the roads.
"Compared to other sites of the Department, the highest rating was for the Autopista al Mar, especially for the type of traffic in the area, which is made up of 65.96% by cars or small vehicles, while on the other roads the majority are trucks. or intermunicipal buses," Rodado said.
Regarding the new design, he explained that they chose it for reasons that will be attractive to foreigners. "The 'vueltiao' hat is the most representative object of our Caribbean culture and today it has become a national symbol by vote of Colombians."
Another service at the bus stop will be food from the region, without neglecting typical dishes from other parts of Colombia. In order to offer the greatest comfort to visitors and travelers passing through, the site will also be equipped with air conditioning and will have luxurious bathrooms.
"With quality services like these, we're going to get more vehicles to circulate along that road. I've always believed that people don't go to our resorts because there aren't this kind of tourist inns. Notice that one goes from here to Cartagena and if someone has desire to urinate, Wednesday what a problem!, because you have to think about doing it on the road or in the mountains. So this tourist whereabouts will serve to call visitors to the beaches of Puerto Velero, Santa Verónica and Caño Dulce", commented Rodado .
The president informed that for the operation of the whereabouts, an operator specialized in tourist services will be required, especially in the attention of foreign tourists who circulate a lot through the sector to or from Cartagena. He explained that there are three national hotel companies interested in operating it.
