The Parque El Tunal Public Library is located in the south of Bogotá and is one of the four major libraries of the Capital Network of Public Libraries of Bogotá - BibloRed of the Mayor's Office of Bogotá and the Secretariat of Education of the Capital District. It opened its doors to the public on May 10, 2001 with 35,000 volumes of books.
The library is immersed in the daily dynamics of the El Tunal neighborhood, which has a shopping center, a hospital, schools and shops. This makes its people move in the midst of permanent social and family dynamics. Likewise, the proximity of the ´Biblioteca´ El Tunal station of the Transmilenio mass transportation system has been definitive so that access to the library is not only easy but also pleasant.
In recent years, the El Tunal Park Public Library has become an essential part of the area, a space that brings people together around books, artistic expressions and settings for reflection and debate. In addition, local artists have found in it a public always interested in accessing knowledge, culture and entertainment.
The design reveals the metal structure also present on the roof and the façade is made up of brick surfaces, glass and shutters that diffuse natural light.
